We are Young Indians, The Voice of New India
World Record Single Largest Training on Child Safeguarding
The role of a teacher in shaping a student cannot be understated. Recognizing that the future of our country is taking shape inside the classrooms, CII-Young Indians collaborated with Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to conduct the world’s largest “Children Safeguarding Training” at Srinivasapura, Kolar with 1336 Teachers.
“Most of us read newspaper reports of children being abused. It leaves us angry. At Young Indians, we decided we needed to Play A Part. The teachers trained will ensure that all children in Srinivasapura are educated on how they could safeguard themselves”, shared Ajith George, Co-Chair Young Indians Bengaluru.
The event saw 1400 teachers become students with them attentively writing notes and also asking questions. Experts Harish Bhuvan (compassionate clowns) and Ashwini (Muktha Foundation) along with volunteers from Sankara Eye Hospital walked them through the concepts of Body Boundary, Safe-Unsafe Touch, Safety Network and nuances of the POCSO act.
“Government of Karnataka has looked to implement a strong child protection policy. Towards this we are pleased to work with partners to empower our teachers. We have made a start today and will work to ensure that at least 10 lakh children benefit from this awareness”. Joint Director SSA, Karnataka
This unique initiative was supported by Kempegowda International Airport and Wipro through a grant.
Young Indians Bengaluru, an integral part of CII comprises of professionals and entrepreneurs who volunteer towards various projects aimed at Nation Building.
